At the 2011 Australian Census the suburb recorded a population of 414.〔 The suburb is named after General Douglas Haig. He served in India in 1887. He was appointed as the regiment's adjutant in 1888, and appointed as Commander-in-chief of the British Army in France from 1915 to 1918.
